Sad

Divisiveness and hatred prevail across the land.
Prominent figures show their lesser sides.
No one listens amid the constant chatter.
Understanding at a minimum, conflicting stories abound.
Sad.

The truth suffers and common sense is gone.
Tolerance in short supply;
patience and understanding
are outdated concepts, ripe for ridicule.
Sad.

International forces test
while diversionary tactics thrive;
A flood of baseless claims and self-centered tweets
lead to confusion and disgust.
Sad.

Tax breaks for the rich.
Health care for the privileged.
Collusion with foreign governments.
Accusations with no evidence.
Sad.

Party over country rules.
Constituents matter less than ideology.
Who knows, who works for who.
The controlling almighty can’t get the job done.
Sad.

Foreign heads of state roll their eyes and shrug.
Crowds in the streets persist.
Hibernation from reality awakens as
the sleeping giant is aroused.
Hopeful.
